BJP and Modi are not invincible, But the Opposition has a long way to go

In this comprehensive analysis of the results of the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly elections, and the Delhi Municipal Corporation polls, a panel of renowned and veteran journalists and socio-political observers point out that the hindutva oriented sectarian politics of the BJP led Sangh Parivar can be overcome provided the opposition rallies it’s forces on economy and livelihood issues. The results in Himachal Pradesh and Delhi as well as the Uttar Pradesh by-elections are clear pointers to the effectiveness of this focussed campaigning. However, the panel also observed that the opposition parties have a long way to go and should work in a concerted manner to upstage the towering organisational strength of the BJP and the personality cult built around Narendra Modi.
